Christmas at Biltmore
The Christmas at Biltmore celebrations begin on November 3, 2018, and last until January 6, 2019. Some of the beautiful holiday décor includes wreaths, garlands and thousands of ornaments on more than 55 glorious Christmas trees within the house itself. Across the estate, the festive décor continues with colorful holiday blooms in the Conservatory, commemorative Christmas wine at the Winery, special menus in restaurants and a breathtaking illumination display in Antler Hill Village.
2018 National Gingerbread House Competition™ Display
The 26th Annual National Gingerbread House Competition™ will take place on November 19 at the Omni Grove Park Inn. The winning creations will be on display from November 25, 2018 until January 4, 2019. Guests not staying at the Omni Grove Park Inn are invited to view the gingerbread house exhibits after 3 p.m. on Sundays or anytime Monday through Thursday, based on parking availability; this excludes all holidays. Experiencing this magical festivity is free, but parking is $20.
Asheville Greenways Growing
In August, Mayor Esther Manheimer accepted $40,000 from Buncombe County Recreation Services and Connect Buncombe to help fund the North River Arts District Greenway. The greenway is planned to be a 1.1-mile urban trail from Hill St. to Broadway and will connect with the River to Ridge Greenway and Trail Network.
Grove Arcade’s Winter Wonderland starts Nov. 16
From November 16, 2018 to January 6, 2019, Grove Arcade visitors can recapture the holiday magic of yesteryear with the annual Winter Wonderland celebration. The Nov. 16 opening-night festivities will last from 5-8 p.m. and will include a Deck the Halls Lighting Celebration, a performance by the Asheville Symphony Chorus starting at 6 p.m., story time, photos with Santa Claus and more. Ongoing Winter Wonderland events include return appearances by Santa Claus on Dec. 2, 9 and 16 from 1-5 p.m. and, beginning Nov. 21, a Gingerbread House Display in partnership with The Grove Park Inn.
Apple Tree Honda 1988 Accord DX Hatchback Giveaway for Charity
From November 1, 2018 until December 20, 2018, Apple Tree Honda is raffling off a 1988 Honda Accord DX Hatchback. Tickets are $25 each and there is no limit on how many you can buy. The Accord is extremely well kept and offers a great reflection of Honda’s heritage. All of the funds raised from ticket sales will be given to various charities within our local community.
