Affair in White Aug. 10

Affair in White returns to the Renaissance Hotel from 7–10 p.m. Aug. 10. It’s guaranteed to be an exciting night full of entertainment, food and beverages. This event will support Loving Food Resources, a food pantry that provides food, health and personal care items to people in 18 counties of WNC who are living with HIV/AIDS or who are in home hospice care with any diagnosis. Early bird tickets are $55 per person and $100 per pair. At the door, tickets are $65 per person and $120 per pair. 

White Gala Fundraising Event Aug. 17

The YMI Cultural Center will be hosting a gala as part of current fundraising efforts to restore the Center to its original mission and purpose. They are looking to raise $2.6 million this year and cannot achieve their goal without your help. This event will take place on Saturday, Aug.17 from 5–8 p.m. Tickets range from $30–$50.

Buncombe County Special Olympic’s Rowdown Throwdown

Buncombe County Special Olympics and South Slope CrossFit’s Adaptive Athlete program will host a benefit “row-athon” Saturday, Aug. 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will consist of teams of 10 rowing a marathon for best time. The goal of this event is to raise $10,000 to be split evenly between Buncombe County Special Olympics and South Slope CrossFit’s Adaptive Athlete program. The event is open to athletes of all ages and athletic abilities. 

NC Animal Liberation Forum Aug. 31 through Sept. 2

North Carolina’s first Animal Liberation Forum will last all weekend and is packed with informative training, knowledgeable speakers and powerful actions. If you’re already an activist or just want to learn more about animal freedom, this is sure to be a great resource. Registration is tiered, and the prices range from $10–$40.
