Kids and Pets and All the Love 1

As a live-in nanny to my nephew and a lover of my two cats and two dogs, I feel a personal connection to the stories in this issue. I’ve been an animal lover my whole life, and giving these sweet souls a spotlight is good for the heart.

I hope it offers you some warmth as well, and if you’re looking for a new companion, Brother Wolf is the best place to start. Read all about how they’re rebuilding for the community on Page XX. And for those of you with children, why not take them by the shelter and let them take the dogs for a walk? And afterward, you can grab a scoop from Ultimate Ice Cream, the best summer treat with flavors for every palate.

August is truly a magical time for adventures like these. It’s that sweet, slow time between the hectic days of summer and the start of a new school year. It’s a time to reflect, relax and enjoy simple pleasures before the air starts turning cool and we begin to retreat indoors for a season. So go out, make the most of it, and we’ll see you again in September.

Cheers, Asheville!
