Asheville Gallery of Art July 2019 Show
The July 2019 show’s theme is “Abstract Art: Emancipating the Mind,” and features the work of Sally Lordeon who has a passion for abstract impressionism. The show will run all month during gallery hours, and a reception for the artist will be held on July 5 from 5–8 p.m. Sally studied at Chatham University in Pennsylvania and moved to Asheville more than 30 years ago. The gallery is located at 82 Patton Ave.
Asheville Art Museum Set to Reopen
The Asheville Art Museum, founded in 1948, has undergone major reconstruction since January of this year. Upon its grand reopening, there will be a world-class Collection of 20th- and 21st-century American art, engaging exhibitions, new programming and events, and more benefits for members. United Way School Supply Drive
Every year, United Way hosts a school supply drive to put fully stocked backpacks in the hands of students in need. Last year, 2,401 students received a backpack, meaning Asheville raised $84,000, setting a new record.
